Welcome to my home page.

I live in Shelby County, Alabama, southeast of Birmingham near the town of Chelsea.  Birmingham is located in north central Alabama, at the southern end of the Appalachian Mountains. Founded in the late 1800's, it has been well known for its iron, steel, and coal industries. The University of Alabama at Birmingham Medical Center is known around the world for its research in the fields of medicine and health.

I grew up in Natchitoches, Louisiana, the oldest town in the Louisiana Purchase. Natchitoches is well known for its meat pies and plantation homes. My parents were Lester Philip and Josephine Levy Lieber.  They owned a clothing store called Lieber's, Inc. which was located on Second Street. The store was founded by my grandfather, Mendel Lieber and uncle, Jacob Lieber.  The pictures on the right are Lester and Josephine Lieber.

I graduated from Natchitoches High School, a school in the Natchitoches Parish School System. In Louisiana, counties are called parishes because of the influence of the Catholic Church in the state. I received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Library Science Secondary Education from Northwestern State University of Louisiana in Natchitoches and a Master of Science in Library Science degree from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. I have also taken courses in reading from East Carolina University in Greenville, North Carolina.

I have been a library media specialist and third and fifth grade teacher in Louisiana, North Carolina, Arkansas, and Virginia, as well as in Alabama. I retired from public education in 2003 and substitute in the Shelby County Schools.  I am the webmaster for CrossBridge Church of Christ, Hannah Home Shelby Ladies' Auxiliary, and Fight 4Life Fitness and Boxing Ministry.
